Katy Davies
Katy graduated in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee in 2015. Using familiar materials from the natural landscape she attempts to visually endow a feeling of the Highlands altered from the one dispensed to tourists by playing with shape and form. The Highland landscape is undeniably sublime but it comes with an edge. The chequered history and strong traditions of Highland life inspire this work yet also its contemporary culture. The gathering of seaweed, heather and limpet shells for this work reminds of an era when Highland folk relied heavily on these natural materials.
